Snapple And NYC
(New York, NY, August
17, 2006) – Today, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the heart of Times
Square, the City of New York and Wendy ‘The Snapple Lady’ celebrated
the opening of the Snapple Big Apple Visitor Center by giving every
New Yorker and tourist in Times Square a free Snapple. Inside the
Visitor Center guests learned about the “best things” and
the “best places” throughout the five boroughs– such
as dining on Arthur Avenue, grabbing a Snapple and a slice in Brooklyn
or catching a game at one of the City’s great stadiums.
“There’s
no place like the five boroughs of New York City and the Snapple
Big Apple Visitor Center will help New Yorkers and tourists navigate
through some of the best stuff in NYC,” said George A. Fertitta,
Chairman, overseeing Marketing, Tourism and Big Events for the City
of New York. “From exploring the Bowery to surfing the beaches
of Rockaway, NYC offers something for everyone.”
The Snapple
Big Apple Visitor Center features information on Snapple’s
Best People, Places and Things. Tourists and New Yorkers who stop
between August and January can win prizes by answering Snapple Real
Facts trivia questions. Some of the great prizes include tickets
to see the off-Broadway show the Perfect Crime at the Snapple Theater
Center, free passes to a Broadway Open House Tour - a two-hour guided
walking tour of the theatre district and the interiors of two Broadway
Theatres – in addition to hats, key chains and other fun products.
Gray Line New York Sightseeing will also be offering discounted tickets
to Snapple fans who redeem their Snapple caps. “Snapple’s
hometown is New York City,” said Holly Mensch, Vice President
of Marketing for Snapple. “We’re the City’s official
iced tea, so it’s only fitting to partner with the Big Apple
to give New Yorkers and visitors a taste of the best stuff the City
has to offer.” The Snapple Big Apple Visitor Center is part
of a partnership between the City’s office for marketing, advertising
and licensing, NYC Marketing and Snapple. The Snapple Big Apple Visitor
Center is another example of Snapple’s ongoing support of City-organized
activities that enrich the lives of New Yorkers and tourists. Other
Snapple sponsored initiatives include a series of 30 free concerts
and events at Central Park SummerStage, dozens of concerts in the
outer boroughs, Beach Bashes on July 4 throughout the city (including
a firefighter Cook Off), Coney Island Volleyball Week and other community
events throughout the City.
The Snapple Big Apple Visitor
Center will be staffed by the City’s convention and visitor’s
bureau, NYC & Company and is housed in the Times Square Information
Center at the restored landmark Embassy movie theatre located on
7th Avenue, between 46th and 47th Streets. The renovated theater
space is open every day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and serves over 3,000
visitors every day.
NYC Marketing and Snapple partnered
with the Times Square Alliance, League of American Theatres and
Producers, Gray Line New York Sightseeing, Time Out New York On
Demand, Time Out New York and NYC & Company to create the Snapple
Big Apple Visitor Center.
